Beyond Releases "Measure of Peace, Part 1;" Scraps "Reciprocity"

Star Trek: Beyond has released the third episode of its third season: "Measure of Peace, Part 1." In this episode, "The crew of the Precipice return to Sector 185 of the Kilos Quadrant. The Captain welcomes a new First Officer (CDR Maku) & the return of an old friend (LT Parker)."

At the same time of this release, however, comes some bad news. "Reciprocity," the three-part mini-series about the Romulan-Klingon War, has been cancelled. Details as to why this decision was made are sparse, but it has been announced that there will be filler material to replace "Reciprocity," which was going to make up the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first episodes of Beyond's third season.

The next Beyond episode to be released, "Measure of Peace, Part 2," has been completed, along with the episode after that, "One for the Team." However, as it seems to be the custom with Beyond, no release date has been set for either episode.

"Measure of Peace, Part 1" is available here; the full announcement about the cancellation of "Reciprocity" is available here.

New Floridian Fan Film: Dark Frontier

Triple-Fiction Productions, based in Lake City, Florida, has announced that it will be producing a new Star Trek fan film called Dark Frontier. The series will take place in the Voyager-era mirror universe and has the tagline, "Witness the mutated rebirth of a science fiction legend." From the website:

Let us start by first saying this,

Take everything you once knew about Star Trek®, and how things appear in the year 2379, and throw them out the window.

This is a series inspired by Star Trek® but once you see it in action. You will notice some very distinct differences...

Imagine for a moment, that Earth as we know it is gone. An attack from enemy forces has left it a barren rock. A wasteland that will never be the same again. The architects of such a savage attack have also left the entire empire in shreds.

With such a grim prospect now fresh in your mind, lets move a few years into the future and see how things have changed...

By this time, in the early 2380's the Terran Empire has managed to retake ground with help from the most interesting of races. The mysterious and powerful Romulan Star Empire has merged with the Terran Empire. Forming the second largest of the two warring super powers of the alpha quadrant. The other is the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, a ruthless and vindictive power that will stop at nothing short of complete domination.

Over the last few years, the Terran Empire and Romulan Star Empire have managed to push back the Alliance and reclaim some of there fallen territories. The war has been long, bloody, and seemingly endless. With every race basically fighting for it's very survival, their have been many friendships forged and alliances made.

Our series stars the crew of the ISS Arkangel, an Intrepid-X Class Warship.

Dark Frontier's main site is located here, with a MySpace page here and a YouTube page here.
