Star Trek: New Voyages has re-casted the role of Hikaru Sulu for their future episodes. The character, which was played by John Lim in "Center Seat" and "World Enough and Time," will now be played by J.T. Tepnapa. From the announcement, which is found here:
"When asked about the role, J.T. stated, 'It's an amazing opportunity to play an iconic Star Trek character first realized by George Takei, who is a personal hero of mine. And after John Lim's performance in 'World Enough and Time,' I know I have big shoes to fill. I wish him the best in his career and am ready to take the reins myself. Thank you to James and Carlos who have made a personal dream of mine come true.'"
Star Trek fan film enthusiasts will recognize Tepnapa from his previous role as Lt. Commander Corey Aster on Star Trek: Hidden Frontier, Star Trek: Odyssey, and Star Trek: The Helena Chronicles.
